![]() ![]() And we could learn the following facts (the horseshoe crab in Japan could become the biggest in the world, Americans protected the horseshoe crab in America and there was little garbage on the beaches of America.). |
| We searched for the horseshoe crab in Yamaguchi and Aio. So we got these facts. The next figure shows the place (red point) where the horseshoe crab did egg-laying. (from 1998 to 2001) ![]() |

We sometimes walk along the beach of Yamaguchi Bay and Aio Bay and search for corpses of the horseshoe crab. Then we record the number. The top left figure are the places where we discovered corpses of the horseshoe crab. (2001) The blue color is male. The red color is female. The numbers are the quantities of corpses. The lower figure is the change in quantities of corpses of horseshoe crabs (totals from 1998 to 2001). We knew the corpses were increasing during the time when the horseshoe crab lays eggs. We don't know why the horseshoe crabs die. But we somtimes think the cause is environmental disruption by us. The beach at ebb tide has gradually become sand. We don't know the reason for that. Year by year number of the horseshoe crabs is decreasing. We and Mr. Harada lament this fact. But most people don't think so. So there is much garbage on the beaches in Japan. Aio junior High School students clean the beach on "Earth Day". However, garbage does not disappear. What do you think about that facts? ![]() |
